The Aligned Learning Action Team is an initiative of the Easton Area Impact Committee.  During Spring 2026, Lafayette students worked alongside EASD and community partners to examine educational support in practice. Their work included developing and recruiting volunteers for a small-group tutoring pilot at Paxinosa Elementary School; observing tutoring and after-school programming at community organizations; identifying barriers related to staffing, space, communication, volunteer coordination, and program structure; and recommending strategies for effective academic support.

Student findings informed recommendations for the development of a volunteer training framework for Lafayette students and other volunteers engaging in Easton schools and youth-focused community programs. The framework establishes shared expectations around student safety, confidentiality, professionalism, appropriate boundaries, and effective school-based service. The next iteration of the project will involve the creation of a training video in partnership with EASD and PBS.
